A highly respected artist and educator for over twenty years, Amber Carroll is one of New Zealand’s top makeup artists and renowned for her intuitive approach to helping clients feel beautiful in their own skin.

Her love affair with the art of makeup began in Australia in 1998, when she studied with renowned global makeup talent, Richard Sharah. She says, “Richard inspired me with the way he painted faces. He was a true artist and amazing to learn from”. Consistently inspired by the work of international artists and forever expanding upon her knowledge of the industry, over the years she has definitely developed a beauty language all her own.

Amber’s work has seen her travel the world with her craft, appearing as a key artist backstage at fashion weeks in New Zealand, Sydney, Bangkok and New York. She has worked alongside the legendary Bobbi Brown facilitating workshops in the beauty hall of iconic New York luxury store Bergdorf Goodman, and her artistry has been seen on the pages of some of New Zealand’s most respected fashion and lifestyle publications.

She regularly works with Australasia’s leading photographers to produce exceptional imagery for a wide variety of editorial, wedding and advertising clients, and she also provides makeup and hair services to some of New Zealand’s most dynamic businesswomen and public figures.

Local and international faces she has worked with include New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Australian supermodels Miranda Kerr, Jessica Clarke and Gemma Ward, and influencer Jaime Ridge.

Sharing her knowledge is key for the Central Auckland-based artist, and she offers group workshops and one-to-one services for anyone who wants to develop, hone or refresh their own makeup skills. “It’s the perfect opportunity to revisit your routine and shake it up a little,” she says, “learning a few clever tips and tricks along the way.”
