Amber Carroll is one of New Zealand’s top makeup artists who regularly works with Australasia’s leading photographers to produce exceptional imagery for a wide variety of editorial & advertising clients.
Amber’s love affair with the art of makeup began in Australia in 1999, when she studied with renowned makeup artist, Richard Sharrah. She says, “Richard inspired me with the way he painted faces. He was a true artist and amazing to learn from”.
Career highlights include, working with some of the countries most gifted & talented photographers and their team of models, stylists and art directors.
Other highlights have been: working as the Beauty Editor of Pulp magazine, at Barneys in New York City with Bobbi Brown and creating looks for the runway at Bangkok Fashion Week.
Amber loves the challenge that the multi faceted world of cosmetics brings. When looking at someone’s the face, she uses her intuition to create the perfect look for them. “I like to keep makeup fun and playful. You have to find each person’s comfort zone and show them new textures and ways to do things to inspire them”.
Inspiration comes from the world around her, countries she has visited & of course, magazines, old films and other media.
To add to her portfolio of skills Amber trained at Serville’s Academy on their hairdressing programme.
